Celebrate the 4th of July on Cape Cod

Everyone knows that s’mores, BBQs, and fireworks are the best way to celebrate the quintessential holiday, the 4th of July. Cape Cod is one of the perfect places to ignite your American pride as Massachusetts was one of the first states to enter the union. There are many ways to celebrate the 4th of July along the sea.

What are the Best Ways to Spend Independence day on Cape Cod?

The 4th of July is one of our favorite holidays at the Sea Meadow Inn! We’ve come up with some of the best ways to celebrate the day while staying with us.

Watch Fireworks

Cape Cod is known for their firework shows. In fact, this will be Cape Cod’s 38th year with their speciality fireworks show that was voted among the top 10 in the nation by Travel & Leisure magazine. There are many fireworks shows all weekend long and to make sure you get the best spot, pack up a beach chair and grab a spot along the shore. The fireworks all start at dusk so early evening is a great time to get there.

Catch a Parade

There are many parades during the weekend of the 4th of July in all of the many towns on the Cape including Bourne, Centerville, Edgartown, Chatham, Falmouth, Orleans, Provincetown, Barnstable, Nantucket, Cotuit, and more! In these parades you’ll see bands, floats, fire trucks, sirens, horses, children’s camps, sparklers, dogs, and of course lots of flags. If you are going to watch a parade, make sure you are wearing anything festive & you’ll fit right in.

Attend a Cookout or Clambake

Nothing screams summer on Cape Cod like a cookout or a clambake. The 4th of July is notorious for delicious hamburgers, hotdogs, pasta/potato salad, and of course Cape Cod potato chips. And while Cape Cod is famous for their Clambakes with lots of fresh seafood like clams, mussels, lobsters, and all the melted butter you could ever want. Attending either one of these is a great way to spend the day and get a great meal.

Cape Cod Travel Tips

Cape Cod gets very crowded on the 4th of July because everyone wants to immerse themselves in all the festivities so if you are planning on attending any of the events, make sure you give yourself extra time traveling.
