Cape Cod Museum Natural History
The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History is just down the road from the Inn. It has a first class exhibit building and the nature trail out to the Bay is wonderful.
There are two floors of exhibits about the flora and fauna of Cape Cod, including exhibits on whales, indigenous birds, and coastal change, and several aquaria holding different species of crustaceans, mollusks, fish, frogs, turtles and snakes. Several displays are interactive and geared to children. Special, temporary exhibits enhance the permanent collection.
The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History also has a library and Museum Shop. Three nature trails meander through woodland, salt marsh or on the shore of Cape Cod Bay and guided field walks are offered year round, daily in summer.

The Cape Cod Rail Trail follows a former railroad right-of-way for 22 miles through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet. The Rail Trail is perhaps the best known of the Cape Cod activities available year-round. Its paved surface, few hills, and well-marked automobile crossings make it ideal for cyclists. The trail has a wide unpaved shoulder on one side to accommodate horseback riding, walkers, and runners.
There are many opportunities to get off the trail and visit a beach. Food and water are also readily available and public restrooms can be found at Nickerson State Park, Salt Pond Visitors Center at Cape Cod National Seashore and the National Seashore Headquarters. If you do not have a bike, bike rentals are available at many points along the way.
And, of course, the beach
Dolphin Fleet Whale Watching Tour
Dolphin fleet Whale Watches are unique. Unlike many other whale watches, their trips offer a wide spectrum of educational tools that go beyond the “average whale watch”. All trips are designed to enhance our awareness of whales, other marine life and the marine habitat that surrounds us. Their goal is to have each passenger depart our vessels with a greater understanding and appreciation of the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary and the wealth of life it supports.
